It’s October and it’s outdoor, fall time, wedding season! While many brides- and grooms-to-be have already had their big day planned far, far in advance by now, there’s plenty of time for newly engaged couples to make their own checklists for their future wedding day.
Because wedding planning can include so many different configurations, it can be difficult to say just how much an outdoor wedding will cost you. However, because many items are traditionally chosen, such as open bar, restroom options, tents, and venues, we can give you a good idea of what to expect in the wedding season of 2022.
Some of the more popular options to include in your fall time wedding are items like outdoor tent rentals, tables, chairs, wedding arch, a stage, photographer/videographer, bartenders, and music/entertainment.
There’s also the venue rental, bathroom options, wedding dress, suit for the groom, and reception venues, but, of course, some of these will come with an indoor wedding, as well.
Because we are focused on the beautiful outdoors during this time of year, we’ll stick to the choices for items that will be mainly required for the wedding outside.
There are all sorts of outdoor destinations a couple can choose from when it comes to wedding venues. Orchards, farms, and family or friends’ plots of acreage are all wonderful options when trying to find an outdoor venue.
Of course, depending on the route you choose, your price can be higher or lower depending on if you get a friends and family discount!
On average, you can expect to pay anywhere from free to as high as $20,000 for an outdoor space. The amount of space you need, plus the amenities will determine a lot of that price.
This is an average, though, so don’t be too worried if you’re on a strict budget. There are ways to save money by making sure the venue includes certain services in their pricing, such as DJs and/or furniture.
You may also check to see if you can use the same venue location for both the ceremony and the reception, to avoid a second location with its own additional costs and separate services.
If you’re planning on using Aunt Glenda’s farm, you may be getting a steal on the venue costs, but depending on how many people are on your guest list, you may forget that Aunt Glenda only has a one bathroom house. Yikes.
If you have 200 people on her 40 acres, that’s plenty of space, but one bathroom isn’t going to meet the needs of your friends and family, so it’s good to plan for some portable toilets.
Luckily, you don’t just have to use the typical porta potty for your wedding. There are a lot of luxury VIP trailer restrooms available for rent that can give your ceremony a much more ritzy feel.
On average, you can expect to spend roughly about $75-$1,800 for the different options of portable toilets on the market. These prices depend on the number of days and units you’ll need so it's best to get an accurate estimate before the big day.
If you don’t have a barn or other building available on Aunt Glenda’s farm for your ceremony, you may choose to rent a big tent to save your loved ones from the sun or rain.
Since weather is a constant concern for outdoor weddings, making plans to have a space for everyone is a really good idea to plan ahead for.
Your number of guests will determine the size of the tent you need, but on average, you can expect to spend from $100-$1,000 for a rental.
These tents can be as small as a 10x10 or as large as the huge festival sized tents you may have seen in your town or city and a good wedding planner or tent rental service can help you determine the correct size you’ll need.
So now you have an idea of the larger outdoor items. Let’s take a look at the more traditional checklist of needs for a typical wedding to add to the budget considerations.
As you can see, there is a wide range of pricing here. It all depends on the skill level involved, number of guests, time the equipment is rented, and more.
Because of this, the better you can plan for your number of guests, dates, times, expectations, etc., the better off you will be when you go to set your budget.
The cost of a wedding can vary so much, it’s extremely dependent on the choices you make. The best thing to do is decide on your budget first, then make the decisions about the rest.
This way, you’ll know exactly what you already have to spend, you won’t go into debt in order to get it, and you’ll be a happy, married camper by the end of it all.
When you’ve decided how much to spend on your outdoor wedding, you’ll be able to really start having fun making plans and we wish you the best.
